The
YMCA is for everyoneit strengthens families, nurtures the
healthy development of children, and encourages positive behavior
in teens.
The Countryside YMCA is an association of caring people working
for the common good. YMCAs are affordable, accessible, and led
by volunteers who give their time to improve their communities.
Ys are dedicated to building values based on Judeo-Christian principles,
and view all people as children of God and worthy of respect.
Unlike health clubs, Ys are family-friendly and open to everyone,
with financial assistance available for those who cannot pay full
fees. Best known for their community-based health and fitness
programs, Ys teach kids to swim, run youth basketball leagues,
lead adult aerobics, and offer exercise classes for people with
disabilities. They also offer hundreds of other programs to meet
community needs, from teen nights to day camp to job training.
