Gymnastics is progressive by nature. Classes build on top of one another. It is very important that parents understand that it takes a long time to achieve all the skills, strength, and flexibility necessary to advance to the next level. Gymnastics takes time, patience, repetition, and a love of the sport in order to succeed. In our classes, success is measured in small steps. We also try to implement the character development of the YMCA by including the values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty in classes. Due to the nature of progressions and class ratios, we are not able to offer makeup classes in gymnastics.

Classes are 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Gymnastics 101
If you are new to our gymnastics program and are 6 years or older, you must come to this assessment class in order for us to properly place you in a class at the correct level. Must have parent or guardian to stay with child. We will show safety on the equipment, gym rules, basic stretches, and do an evaluation of the child's skill level. Must register at front desk.

Tumbling Class
This is a tumbling class for girls and boys. They will work on tumbling skills according to level.
Beginners: cartwheels, round-offs, backbends
Intermediate: This class is for students who can do all the things in Beginner and have a good, strong backbend and round-off. They will work on back walkovers, front limbers, running round-offs and standing back handsprings. They must have strength and progressions before we work on the back handsprings.
Advanced: This class is designed for students who can do standing backhand springs by themselves, have strong round-offs and overall good strength and flexibility.
