Tennis
Tennis is available through league play
or through group and private instruction. We accept beginners
through advance players, and teach all skills associated
with the sport. The league is offered in the summer and
lasts for five weeks with a round robin style of play.
Racquetball
Youth racquetball lessons are available for ages
8+ years old. Basic skills, safety rules, and fun are included
in the class. There is an annual tournament and clinics
offered in February.
T-ball
T-ball is for boys and girls ages 4-6. The program
focuses mostly on fun, however basic skills will be taught
as well. These skills include fielding, throwing, catching
and hitting.
Fencing
This is an international, competitive
sport taught by fencing master, Edward Wright. Classes are
offered for ages 5-14 and supplies can be provided for the
class.
Golf
If you need a tune-up for your golf game
this year, contact the YMCA about enrolling yourself or
your child in one of the many instructional opportunities
at the Southwest Golf Ranch. The Southwest Golf Ranch is
the YMCA's golf partner and conducts all golf instruction
for the YMCA. The Southwest Golf Ranch is located between
Lebanon and Mason on US Rt. 42. Golf clinics begin in March
and run through fall for ages 8 and up.
Flag
Football
This league will cover fundamental skills and
good sportsmanship. After fundamental skills are taught
then they will be practiced through drills and scrimmages
and then onto games. The Countryside YMCA is proud to announce
that it has received grant money from the YMCA of the USA
and the NFL charities, to help launch the new program.

Roller Hockey
This is an instructional program for ages 8-14. Participants will
learn basic skills and strategies of the sport taught by Josh
Ramsey. Games will he held at the end of the session. This is
a fall and spring league.
Lacrosse
This is a new program at the YMCA. There will be a boy's division
and a girl's division for ages 8-12. All equipment can be provided
to participate. The sport of lacrosse is one of the fastest growing
sports in the country. Participants will learn the basic skills
and strategies of the sport and have the opportunity to play in
games.
Basketball
Countryside's basketball program is very successful.
Countryside has boys, girls, and wee basketball programs. Skills
that are covered are the fundamentals of the game such as shooting,
passing, dribbling, learning the rules of the game, and correct
form. Although there is some competition, the emphasis is on how
to play the game and implementing the character development of
the YMCA.
Wee Basketball
Wee basketball is a parent/child program. This program
focuses on developing a closer relationship between the parent
and child, and using appropriate equipment for their age level.
The age requirement for this class is 5, 6 or 7 years old. The
class introduces basketball skills and rules, and give players
a chance to play league games.
Tae Kwon
Do
Classes
are taught by I1-Kwon Kim, 9th degree black belt, President of
the World Martial Arts Federation and an internationally known
authority on martial arts.
Beginner
Children will be taught traditional martial arts. It's emphasis
is on overall self-important, self-control, and discipline, as
well as physical fitness, self-defense, balance, flexibility and
strength. Individuals progress at their own pace according to
their own fitness level.
Ages 5 years and up.
Advanced
Children who have started at the Beginner Level should register
at the Advanced Level after finishing their first session of Tae
Kwon Do. Students at each belt level learn basic motions and forms,
self-defense, and breaking techniques. They also participate in
supervised, controlled free-fighting. In addition, students are
instructed in Korean martial arts terminology.
Ages 5 years and up.
