Starter Fitness Program

The basis of the YMCA Starter Fitness Program is personal empowerment. Empowerment means that you gain genuine control and mastery over your life.
 
Only personally empowered people can make significant changes in their lives - like becoming physically active on a regular basis! The ultimate goal of this program is to personally empower you to become an independent exerciser with the ability to problem solve and make good decisions about your exercise behavior.
 
Our specially trained staff will only be facilitators. You will be the master! They will help you reach your fitness goals by helping you discover and act on the power to change that is within you!
 
Sign up is easy! Just ask the Front Desk for extension 175 to make an appointment. An instructor will call you back to set up your first appointment.
This program is for you if you are:
  • A non-exerciser
  • A person just getting back to exercise
  • Looking for more structure with personal attention
  • Looking for motivation through accountability
  • A person 16 years and older
No additional charges. The program is included with the annual YMCA membership.
 
The Program Includes:
  • This program allows enough time to become accustomed to cardiovascular and strength training.  This will allow you to see and feel the physical and psychological benefits of regular exercise.
  • A personal one-to-one approach.  A CSC  instructor will meet with you during this time.   You will learn to identify barriers to change and develop strategies to overcome them.  Your instructor will also provide personal attention and guidance throughout the Program.
 
  • The Starter Fitness Program will be divided into 3 phases of activity:
    • Introduction to FitLinxx
    • Introduction to Cardiovascular  training
    • Introduction to Strength training  
 With the guidance of the CSC Instructor you decide when it is time to move on to each phase.  Before you know it you will be ready to take on more challenging workouts offered in the main Cardio Strength Center.
