Kayak
Whether you are new to kayaking or have kayaking experience, Countryside YMCA can provide you with kayak instruction that is perfect for you.
Classic Kayak
Teaches you the Eskimo Roll and all paddling strokes for River and Sea kayaking. You will learn rescue and self-rescue techniques as well as boating terminology for River and Sea kayaks. The session is 3-4 weeks long and includes 1 full day river trip on the Little Miami River at Fort Ancient (weather permitting). Boats and paddles will be provided. Kayak Roll Refresher
Allows the experienced kayaker to work on roll techniques. Refresher courses are held during regular kayak classes. Prices are set on a per day roll.
S.C.U.B.A.
Dive in and enjoy the thrill of learning how to scuba dive. Participants receive certification in the National YMCA Scuba program. Course is taught by certified dive instructors. The YMCA SCUBA program is celebrating 25 years here. There is an additional fee of $70.00 for course materials. Please call Tim Patton, dive master, for more information (513) 897-7288.
Skin Diving
This YMCA certification for safe snorkeling is a great way for children 10 years old and up to learn proper and safe techniques for skin diving. Students will learn how to use mask, fins, and snorkels, and then progress to more advanced techniques of safety and mobility. Students will receive a certification card upon successful completion of the course.
Springboard Diving
Countryside YMCA offers diving instruction for the beginner to advanced diver. Participants will need to have an evaluation prior to registering for a diving class. Evaluations can be schedule through the swim lesson office by contacting Beth Benner or Karla Roberds at (513) 932-1424 x152.
Beginner Springboard – Participants will learn 1 meter diving board skills from how to use the diving board safely to beginner competitive dives. Participants must have Minnow level swimming skills including being comfortable in deep water and must be able to swim 25 yards.
Intermediate Springboard – Participants will continue to learn springboard diving skills safety and beginner/intermediate competitive dives. Participants must have Minnow level swimming skills including being comfortable in deep water and must be able to swim 25 yards.
Advanced Springboard – Participants will continue to learn springboard diving skills safety and intermediate/advanced competitive dives. Participants must have Minnow level swimming skills including being comfortable in deep water and must be able to swim 25 yards.
