Locker Rooms

Countryside YMCA launched a major renovation project in July of 2008 to totally remodel and redesign our 4 main locker rooms to modernize and make them more convenient and accessible.

After extensive surveys and study in late 2007 and early 2008, it became apparent that the locker rooms were the highest priority of the membership in need of remodeling. Focus groups supplied inputs on what features were desired. Working with Roll Associates as the architect, an upbeat, modern design was present and approved with funding form the C. Donald Dilatush Trust.

The 10,000 square foot design included:

  • Updated ceilings, walls, lighting, flooring, plumbing & HVAC
  • Increase number of family change rooms from 2 to 7
  • Moved toilet units closer to dry hall entry for east of access
  • Showers private with changing stalls integrated into design
  • New, wider lockers in all 4 rooms
  • Increased vanity and mirror space
  • Replaced whirlpools with larger glassed in units
  • Replaced saunas and steam rooms in Men’s and Women’s

New Boys’ and Girls’ rooms opened September 23 with rave reviews. The new Men’s and Women’s will open on December 12.

Thanks to everyone for their patience in the process of destruction and construction. I think you will find it worth the wait as we begin our journey into our next 30 years.
