Gymnastics Camp

 

ages 6-14

YMCA Gymnastics camps are a fun-filled week of instruction of gymnastics skills for boys and girls of all ages and levels. Learn cartwheels, backbends and back handsprings. Each day your child will have instructional rotations on Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, Dance and Tumble Track. Gymnastics builds self-esteem, flexibility, self-discipline, strengthens muscles and teaches life skills. Other activities could include climbing rope, games, dance, skits and swimming.

 

Weekly Themes

Week 1 - June 7-11

Game Frenzy

Join us for fun and adventure playing games of all kinds from the gym to the pool area.  Human board games, GaGa pit, relay games and more!

 

Week 2 -  June 14-18

“Twin”kle Week

During this week, campers dress up as “twins” with a friend.  Campers and staff will have fun with their twin and participate in “twin” activities all week pillow races, TV Tag, and movie day.

 

Week 3 - June 21-25

Holiday Extravaganza

Go on a hunt for eggs, gobble like a turkey, trick or treats and Christmas trees. Squeezing all the holidays into one week will make for a fun Countryside Y gymnastics adventure.

 

Week 4 - June 28-July 2

Tacky Dress Up

Mix plaid with stripes and polka dots?!? Yes you can!  You’re the fashionista this week. Almost anything goes (age appropriate apparel) Raid your closets for Hippy day, backwards day and crazy hair day!

 

Week 5 - July 5-9

Fun in the Sun

Jump on in!  Gymnastics camp is fine. Fun, sun and friends are a great combo for summer! Beach ball volleyball, crab walk relay, sharks & minnows, water relay.

 

Week 6 - July 12-16

Ooey Gooey Week

Ready to get messy?  Laughter,  fun and sloppy games! Ooblick, gak, mystery bags, dirt pudding, pie in the face.

 

Week 7 - July 19-23

Moovin’ & Groovin

Shake your tail and get your groove on this week!   Dancin’ and moovin’ is part of the focus for the week.  Make up a dance with your group to perform.

 

Week 8 - July 26-30

Under the Big Top

Enjoy the excitement and wonder of the circus.  Clown around with friends and play carnival games!  Popcorn, rings, floor relays, pit jousting, face painting.

 

Week 10- August 9-13

Un-birthday Party Week

Imagine only 1 birthday each year, but there are 364 un-birthdays!  Happy Un-birthday to you!  Classic party games and fun.

 


On Friday, we will have a show for the other camps and parents. Campers will perform their dances. After camps leave, gymnastics campers will show off the skills they learned that week to each other. 

 

WHAT TO WEAR

Leotard (no skirt) or elastic-waist shorts and tucked in tee-shirt

NO JEAN SHORTS 

No zipper, belts, buckles or snaps on clothes.

No Jewelry except for post earrings.

 

WHAT TO BRING

Gym bag, gym shoes, and flip flops, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen

Week 9 - August 2-6

Gymnastics Meet Week - the amazing race

ages 6-14

$145 Members

$190 Program Members

 

Give your child the experience of competing as Countryside puts on a mock gymnastics meet at the end of the week. This is an opportunity for beginner, intermediate, and advanced gymnasts to participate in a meet setting.  Ribbons awarded to all participants. NO HALF DAY GYMNASTICS THIS WEEK

Cheerleading camp

 

Ages 6-14

All-Day Cheerleading Camp

The campers will learn cheers, chants, and dances formatted for beginning to intermediate level cheerleaders. The campers will also learn various tumbling skills associated with cheerleading and have the opportunity to tumble in the gymnastics facility. The goal of the camp is to implement good cheerleading skills and techniques that the campers can take with them to their own cheerleading squads. Friday, we will have a show for the other camps.  Parents are welcome. They will perform their dance, cheers and chants.
