Art and Pottery
Support your child’s artistic growth with an art class at Countryside YMCA. You’ll discover a variety of art programs where students can develop artistic skills in social group settings. Students also benefit from the positive impact the arts have on education, including academic achievement in school. Participants also have the opportunity to show their work in the Lebanon Arts Festival in 2012.
Classes include:
- Clay. Classes include instruction on how to develop skills to create animal sculptures, bowls and other projects.
- Glass Art. Courses include skill-level appropriate projects in glass fusing, stained glass mosaic and sculpture. Instruction covers basic glass art knowledge including glass cutting and soldering.
- Photography on Location. Learn to photograph nature and other environments in a relaxing and informative class. Includes instruction on how to get the best picture. Practice thru weekly in-class photography sessions and external assignments. Contact Cathy Lyons for details.
- Pottery. Students learn easy hand-building techniques and wheel working as well as clay basics, tools, and glazing.
- Pottery: Whistle Building. Youth 8 and up (with or without an adult partner) will create a hand-sculpted clay whistle using white or brown clay. The whistle itself will be covered by a bird, animal, or other sculptured shaped. Finished whistles will be bisque fired and glazed.
Register Today. Minimum number of students required. Materials fees may apply. Class lengths vary. Check Class Schedule for current classes.

- No refunds are offered if the five-week session has ended or if there is a cancellation due to inclement weather. Classes cancelled due to weather may be rescheduled during the make-up week.
